    Application Scenario

    FineBI allows you to filter data through slicers to control what is displayed in charts, making the charts clearer.

    For example, you can filter data by year or region to view the product sales of eastern China in 2021, as shown in the following figure.

    Implementation Method

    1. You can use Office Supplies Data to create multiple components (including an area map, a KPI card, and a group table).

    2. You can click Filter Component and add a filter component on the dashboard editing page, and add the field to be filtered in the filter component. (Field source: Office Supplies Data)

    Component Creation

    Upload the Office Supplies Data table to the analysis subject and use the table to create components.

    Key point: The Office Supplies Data table is used for all components. If you have previously learned Linkage Settings Between Components, you can directly reuse these components without recreating them.

    Sales - KPI Card

    KPI Card

    1. Select KPI Card in Chart Type and drag the Sales field into the Text bar.

    2. Click the drop-down icon of Sales in Graphic Property, select Value Format, select Auto, and set Quantity Unit to Thousand. Select Number, and set Decimal Place to 0, as shown in the following figure.

    Profit - KPI Card

    Drag the Profit field into the Text bar. The remaining steps are the same as above.

    Quantity KPI Card

    Drag the Quantity field into the Text bar. The remaining steps are the same as above.

    Sales Analysis Table

    Group Table

    1. Select Group Table in Chart Type.

    2. Drag the corresponding fields into the analysis area, as shown in the following figure.

    1. Select Area Map in Chart Type.

    2. Click the drop-down icon of Province, and choose Geographic Role > Province/City/Autonomous Region.

    3. Drag Province (Longitude) and Province (Latitude) into the analysis area and Sales into the Color bar.

    4. Hide the legend under Component Style > Legend, as shown in the following figure.

    Add a dashboard, drag the components into the dashboard, and adjust the size and position of the components, as shown in the following figure.

    Filter Component Adding

    After component creation, if you want to view the data under different conditions, you can add a filter component (slicer). FineBI allows you to select filter components such as time filter components, text filter components, tree filter components, and value filter components. You can click Filter Component and select a filter component to add the filter component, as shown in the following figure.

    Contract Time - Year

    Time Filter Component

    1. Click Filter Component and drag the Year filter component into the dashboard.

    2. Drag the Contract Time field from the Office Supplies Data table into the Field bar.

    3. Since the data exists only from 2018 to 2021, you can select Set Optional Interval, and set the interval to the range from 2018 to 2021.

    4. After completing the setting, click the component, rename the component, and click OK.

    Area - Text Drop-down Component

    Text Filter Component

    1. Click Filter Component, and drag the Text Drop-Down component into the dashboard.

    2. Drag the Area field from the Office Supplies Data table into the Field bar.

    3. After completing the setting, click the component, rename the component, and click OK.

    Sales - Range Slider

    Value Filter Component

    1. Click Filter Component, and drag the Range Slider component into the dashboard.

    2. Drag the Sales field from the Office Supplies Data table into the Field bar.

    3. After completing the setting, click the component, rename the component, and click OK.

    Province and City - List Tree

    Tree Filter Component

    1. Click Filter Component, and drag the List Tree component into the dashboard.

    2. Drag the Province and City fields from the Office   Supplies Data table into the Field bar.

    3. After completing the setting, click the component, rename the component, and click OK.

    After completing the above-mentioned operations, you have finished learning data slicing and filtering. The effect is the same as that shown in section "Application Scenario."
