  • Overview

After uploading and processing the data, you may need to visualize the data table and create a dashboard. Various types of table and chart components are available in the dashboard. In this case, how to create a table component?

FineBI provides you with three types of tables, namely detail tables, group tables, and cross tables.

This document takes the group table as an example and introduces how to create a table component.

First, download the sample data Table_Chart_Office Supply Sales-Full.xlsx and upload the downloaded data to FineBI.

    Table Creation

First, choose My Analysis > New Subject > Local Excel > Upload Data and select the downloaded data in the pop-up window. Upload the downloaded data and click OK in the upper right corner after successful uploading. In this case, an analysis subject is created. Click Component in the lower left corner to enter the component editing page, where you can create components, as shown in the following figure.

Select Group Table in Chart Type and drag fields from the list on the left into the analysis area, as shown in the following figure.

In this case, a group table is completed. You can click + to view the content of fields in the created group table, as shown in the following figure.

    Data Processing & Analysis

    Calculation Field Adding

Calculate the profit margin of products. The formula for calculating the profit margin: Profit margin = Profit/Cost = Profit/(Sales - Profit). Since you need to obtain a profit margin that can be adjusted automatically according to different dimensions in FineBI, you need to apply the SUM_AGG function to the field during multiplication or division.

In this case, you can click the drop-down icon and select Add Calculation Field to add the calculation field Profit Margin in the to-be-analyzed area. After finishing this step, drag the field into the table, as shown in the following figure.

    For details, see Calculation Field.

    Data Group Setting

You can group table dimensions in FineBI.

In this case, all data is grouped by Signing Date in the format of Year-Month-Day. If you want to view the data details only by Year, you can set the date group.

Procedure: Click the drop-down icon of the Signing Date field and select Year from the drop-down list in the analysis area, as shown in the following figure.

For details, see Setting Date Group and Format.

    Summary Mode Setting

You can set Summary Mode (set to Sum by default) for indicators across different dimensions of a group table in FineBI. You can use this function to calculate needed data, such as the average value and the maximum value.

For example, you can calculate the average annual profit. Procedure: 1. Click the drop-down icon of the Profit field in the Indicator bar and select Copy from the drop-down list. 2. Select the field obtained, click the drop-down icon, and choose Summary Mode > Average. 3. Select the field obtained, click the drop-down icon, select Set Display Name from the drop-down list, and set the display name to Average Profit, as shown in the following figure.

You can see the total and average profit in different years.

For details, see Summary Modes for Tables.

    Quick Calculation

You can use Quick Calculation in FineBI to calculate needed data, such as Comparison with Same Period/Comparison with Previous Period, Percentage, and Ranking.

For example, you can calculate the year-on-year growth rate of profit. Procedure: 1. Click the drop-down icon of the Profit field and select Copy from the drop-down list. 2. Click the drop-down icon of the field obtained and choose Quick Calculation > Comparison with Same Period/Comparison with Previous Period > Growth Rate of Comparison with Previous Period. 3. Click the drop-down icon of the field obtained, select Set Display Name from the drop-down list, and set the display name to Profit-Growth Rate of Comparison with Previous Period, as shown in the following figure.

In this case, you can get the year-on-year growth rate of the total profit quickly.

For details, see Quick Calculation Overview.

    Table Sorting

You can also sort the data in FineBI.

If you want to display data in different years in the table according to the profit, two methods are available to achieve the expected effect. 1. You can click the drop-down icon of the Signing Date field and choose Descend > Profit from the drop-down list. 2. Alternatively, you can click the sorting icon in the column header of Profit and select Descend, as shown in the following figure.

    For details, see Sorting Overview.

You can filter the displayed data in FineBI.

For example, you can display data only in 2020 and 2021. Click the drop-down icon of the Signing Date field, select Filter from the drop-down list, and add a condition to obtain the needed data, as shown in the following figure.

    For details, see Filter Introduction.

You can also place image information in tables in FineBI.

For example, the data table records the image URL of each product. You can click the drop-down icon of Product Image URL and choose Display Type > Display as Image from the drop-down list.

For details, see Displaying Images in a Table.

    Data Mark

You can mark data that meets specific conditions in FineBI.

For example, you can mark the data with the highest sales.

    1. First, find Sales in Table Property. After expanding Sales, drag the Sales field into the Color and Shape bars separately and choose Quick Calculation > Ranking > Descend to obtain the descending order of sales.

    2. Click the setting icons next to Color and Shape to add conditions for the color and shape displayed in the indicator box. Set the conditions that the required text and background colors and the preset shape for marking indicator values are displayed for indicator values with a sales ranking less than 2. The following figure shows the effect.

The data with the highest sales will be highlighted in the rows displayed in the table.

    For details, see Table Property.

You can display values of Profit Margin in the format of percentages and values of Sales with the unit thousand.

For details, see Value Format in a Table.

    Data Bar Setting

You can enable Open Data Bar to display the data of Profit Margin more directly, as shown in the following figure.

For details, see Table Component Style Overview.

    Table Column Width Setting

You can click the header to adjust the column width in tables. If you want the column widths to be equal, click the icon in the upper-right corner of the table, as shown in the following figure.

    Summary Row Setting

You can also calculate totals for specific dimensions in group tables.

For example, if you want to obtain the total value of each major product category, choose Component Style > Summary Row > In-Group Summary Row > Category, as shown in the following figure.

For details, see Table Component Style Overview.

    Table Beautification

You can customize the table (such as the style and font of the table) in Component Style. The following figure shows the effect of the designed table.

For details, see Table Component Style Overview.

    Table Export

You can click Export Excel to export the analyzed table component as an Excel file on the Component page, as shown in the following figure.

If you want to reuse the analyzed data from FineBI in Excel, you are advised to add fields using a detail table and export the table.

For details, see Exporting Components to Excel.
