Functions
Geographic Information is where you can configure area boundaries and point coordinates of the map, that is, the entry for actual geographic information configurement. You can add geographic information files and modify the built-in geographic information.
As shown in the following figure, on the left of the Geographic Information page is the hierarchy directory of maps, and on the right is the editing page of the selected map, which includes two types — Area and Point (click to switch).
Functions

The Geographic Information interface is shown in the following figure.
The following table introduces the functions corresponding to each number area.

1 | Geographic information directory | Each directory is named after its corresponding area. You can create, copy, delete, and rename directories. |
2 | Map type | You can select the map type as Area or Point. |
3 | Map editing and display | You can edit the map with the selected tool and the effect will be displayed immediately after saving. You can also click an area to view or manually modify its information, including name, center point, ID, and so on. The selected area can also be deleted. |
4 | Editing tools | Editing tools include (from top to bottom): zoom in, zoom out, polygonal selection, rectangular selection, circular selection, merge, edit boundary, and delete. |
5 | Area list | You can directly modify the name, longitude, and latitude of an area in the list. When merging areas, you can tick areas in the list for merging. |
6 | Save/Reset | After modifying the configuration, click Save to save the modification, which takes effect immediately. Click Reset before saving to undo the modification. |
7 | Sync geo files | You can manually add, delete, or modify geographic files, custom images, and any files in .json format under the path %BI_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map. Click Sync Geo File to synchronize the modification under that directory. |
Adding/Copying a Directory
Adding a Directory
To add a directory, clickin the upper right corner of the hierarchy directory to add a subdirectory under the selected directory. The drilling of a map is performed based on the hierarchical relationship of the corresponding directory. (For areas with no sub-directory, such as Shanghai, you need to add files in .json format under its directory to perform drilling, otherwise, the drilling fails.)
Select the world directory, click, and enter the name of the added directory in the pop-up configuration window.
The added directory is located under the world parent directory. You can hover the cursor over this directory to copy, edit, or delete it, as shown in the following figure.
Copying a Directory
To copy a directory, select the directory you want to copy and click . Then set the file name and parent directory of the new directory in the pop-up window and click OK, as shown in the following figure.

1. Only the selected directory (without its subdirectories) is copied.
2. The new directory contains the geographical information of the original directory.
Area
Selection Tool
Select a directory, pick a selection tool in the map editor, and follow the tooltips to draw a custom area. After the drawing is completed, a configuration box pops up, which includes the default name and center point of the selected area and can be modified.
The demonstration of polygonal, rectangular, and circular selection tools is shown in the following gif.
Merging Areas
For maps with selectable areas, you can click and choose areas to be merged by clicking them on the map or ticking them in the area list, as shown in the following gif.

Editing/Deletion Tool
For maps with editable areas, you can click to edit the shape and size of a selected area. To delete an area, click
, select an area on the map, and click Finish to delete it, as shown in the following gif.
Point
Point Marker
The area map and point map under the same directory do not affect each other. To change the point map information, select a directory, click a point on the map, and click the icon to edit it. There are no tools for selection or merging in the point map. To add a point on the map, you can click the
icon.
Cell Operation
1. Editing table data
To modify point map information by editing the table data, click a cell to edit it.
To unselect a cell, click somewhere outside the table.
2. Adding/Deleting table data
Click Add to add a row and enter the name, longitude, and latitude of the added point, as shown in the following figure.
Select a cell and click Delete to delete the row where the selected cell is located. To delete multiple rows, hold down the Ctrl key (PC and Mac), select multiple rows, and click Delete.
3. Importing data
Click Import Data and select Excel files to import point information. The imported Excel must contain three columns, which are in order as follows: name, longitude, and latitude of the added point. Only Excel meeting the above format can be successfully imported.
After successful import, the data is added to the table and the corresponding point appears on the map, as shown in the following figure.
Save/Reset
After configuration, click Save in the upper right corner and the FineBI system generates two files in .json format named {name}-area.json and {name}-point.json (under the path %BI_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map\geographic\) to save the custom geographic information.
Thus, you cannot reset the configuration after saving.
Sync Geo File
You can manually add, delete, or modify geographic files, custom images, and any files in .json format under the path %BI_HOME%\webapps\webroot\WEB-INF\assets\map. Click Sync Geo File to synchronize the modification under that directory.
Application
After saving the geographic information configuration, you can select the newly set information to match geographic roles, as shown in the following figure.
The geographic role in an area map matches the corresponding area and that in a point map matches the corresponding point.
