    Scenario Description

You can use four methods to design a dashboard where the data can be freely filtered and viewed by users.

    Function Description

The four design methods provided by FineBI are:

    1. Use one component as the filter through Component Linkage. For details, see Setting Linkages Between Components.

    2. Add filter components. For details, see Filter Component Overview.

    3. Add a slider legend in the component. This method only applies to some components except table components. For details, see Chart Legends.

    4. Filter the data in a table component. For detailed settings, see Table Filter.

    iconNote:
The filtering effect designed by the four methods can be displayed on mobile devices, except for that of the composite filter component.

    Filtering Methods

    Component Linkage

Set a linkage between components and click a field of one component (which can be regarded as a filter) to filter data involved in other components. For details, see Setting Linkages Between Components.

Add a filter component to the dashboard for filtering. FineBI is equipped with some built-in filter components including Time Filter Component, Text Filter Component, Tree Filter Component, Value Range Filter Component, and Other Filter Components. For details, see Filter Component Overview.

    Effect Display

You can use the Text Filter component to filter contracts signed in California, as shown in the following figure.

    Slider Legend Setting

Add a slider legend to the component on the component editing page for data filtering. After filtering, items that do not meet the filtering condition are not hidden but displayed in gray. This method is not applicable to components like Table that do not have legends. For details, see Chart Legends.

    Effect Display

Drag the slider of the Count field, as shown in the following figure.

    Table Filter

Besides setting linkage or adding filter components to filter data in the table component, you can use the filtering function of the table component. When viewing the dashboard, you can filter data in the table component directly by clicking the field to be filtered and choosing Filter in the dropdown list. For details about how to add conditions, see Filter.

    Effect Display

Click the Delivery Status field, choose Filter in the dropdown list, and add a filter condition to get the data of contracts where the good has been delivered.
