In FineBI, once you set a filtering condition in the filter component, data filtering is executed automatically.
However, if there are multiple filter components in the dashboard and a large amount of data is used, it is unnecessary for FineBI to perform a query every time a filter component is set as the query consumes great resources and time. FineBI provides the query, reset, and clearance buttons to solve this problem.
Here's an example dashboard with three filter components. If you add the query and reset buttons, you can choose to execute a query after finishing setting the three filter components.
Each of the three buttons (Query Button, Reset Button, and Clearance Button) can be added only once in a dashboard.
You can download the sample data: Regional Data Analysis.xlsx.
Adding the Query/Reset/Clear Button
1. Click Filter Component and drag Query Button, Reset Button, and Clearance Button into the dashboard, as shown in the following figure.
Query
Unified query trigger: After setting all filter components in a dashboard, a data query will be triggered on the dashboard based on the currently set filtering conditions when you click the query button.
Reset
You can click Reset to reset the current filtering conditions to the default ones.
Clear
You can click Clear to clear all selected conditions in the filter components.
Enabling Auto Query in Initial Status
Click the Query button, and you can see that the Auto Query in Initial Status is enabled by default, as shown in the following figure.
If Auto Query in Initial Status is enabled, A query is automatically executed with the default filtering conditions during the preview, and you do not need to click the Query button. If you set other filtering conditions, you need to click the Query button to trigger filtering.
If Auto Query in Initial Status is not enabled, no query is executed automatically according to the default filtering conditions during the preview, and the component displays a blank page. You need to click the Query button to display the filtering results.
Set filtering conditions for the three filter components, as shown in the following figure.
Set the filtering conditions to 2013 (Year) and 10000 (Contract Amount) in sequence, and click Query to obtain the unified query result.
Click Reset and Query to obtain the filtering result of the default filtering conditions.
Click Clear and Query to clear all selected filtering values and obtain the calculation result (not been filtered yet).
Triggering condition:
This issue may occur if you add both Query and Reset buttons, and do not enable Auto Query in Initial Status for the Query button.
Triggered effect:
After you add the filter condition, the dashboard performs filtering automatically. But if you click the Reset button, it only clears the filter condition and does not trigger a query.
Cause:
After clicking the Reset button, you may need to set the filter condition again. If a query is automatically triggered at this time, it will involve the full amount of data, consuming great resources.
