    Now, you can set the color of regions with no data. For details, see section "Setting Color."

    Application Scenario

    An area map is a visual graphic that uses colors with different shades to show the size and distribution of data. The following figure is an area map which shows the distribution of customers. The darker the color, the more customers there are.

    Basic Requirement

    The following table describes the basic requirements for an area map.

    Chart Feature

    An area map uses colors with different shades to differentiate the magnitude of values, which is suitable for displaying the data distribution in geographic areas.

    Data Preparation

    1. Log in to the system as the administrator, click My Analysis, select a folder, and click New Subject, as shown in the following figure.

    2. Click Local Excel and click Upload Data, as shown in the following figure.

    You can download the example data: Customer Dimension Table.xlsx.

    3. Click OK after the data is uploaded, as shown in the following figure.

    Component Creation

    1. Click Component in the lower left corner, as shown in the following figure.

    2. Convert the field Province in the dimension of the area to be analyzed to a geographic role.

    You can create maps with latitude and longitude. For more details, see Converting Indicator Fields into Geographical Roles.

    3. Click Area Map in Chart Type and drag the field Province (Longitude) into Horizontal Axis and Province (Latitude) to Vertical Axis, as shown in the following figure.

    1. If you want to drill data of cities from principles, see Map Drilling.
    2. The chart editing page will only display the first 10,000 data, making some areas of the chart appear gray. When you preview the dashboard, all data will be displayed.

    Color Setting

    Drag Count to Color, click Color, and select Yellow to Green in Gradient Solution.

    If you want to change the default color order of the map or customize colors, select Area Gradient in Gradient Type and Custom in Gradient Interval, as shown in the following figure.

    In V6.0.15 and later versions, you can modify the color of areas whose data values are empty on the maps to distinguish these areas. For example, you can set the color of Indonesia with an empty value to white.

    You can also set prompts, labels, etc. for your area map. For more details, see Graphic Properties.

    Component Style Setting

    Hiding Legends

    Deselect Display All Legends under Component Style > Legend.

    Setting the Background

    Set the background to Midnight.

    Prepare the data referring to section "Data Preparation" in this document.

    Example data: Company Employee Distribution.xls.

    Component Creation

    1. Click Component in the lower left corner, as shown in the following figure.

    2. Convert the field Country in the dimension of the area to be analyzed to a geographic role.
