When you need to update the Excel datasets, you can use the Update Excel function.
Update Excel supports the operations of Append and Replace.
Append: You can append the newly-uploaded data to the data in the previously-uploaded Excel datasets.
Replace: You can upload new Excel datasets to replace the data in the previously-uploaded Excel datasets.
1. Whether you modify the field type in an Excel dataset on the table editing page or on the Update Excel page, the field type will take effect based on the last modification.
2. Excel datasets do not support real-time updates.
1. Choose Public Data, select the Excel dataset you want to update, and click Update Excel, as shown in the following figure.
You can download the Excel dataset: Store.zip
2. You can see two update methods (Append and Replace) in the upper-right corner of the Update Excel page.
Append means that the newly-uploaded Excel data are appended to the original data. The newly-uploaded data does not affect the original data.
1. Click the Append button, select the Excel file (with data in the file you want to append) to upload, and click Open, as shown in the following figure.
You can download the Excel dataset: Southeast Store.zip
2. You need to select the sheet you want to append. If the Excel file you have uploaded only has one sheet, you can upload it directly. Click OK, as shown in the following figure.
3. After the data are added, "Excel appended data success!" is displayed at the top of the page, and you can see the data of Southeast Store are appended below the original table data.
Upload Logic of Appending Data
Scenario
Upload Method
There is a new field in the appended table. (The
new field has a totally different name from all the
fields in the original table.)
The new field is ignored, and the data in that field are
not appended to the original table.
The field does not exist in the appended table.
(The original table has a field, but the appended
table does not have the same field name to
match the field.)
The value of that field (exists in the original table, but
not in the appended table) is null.
The field types in the appended table are different from those in the original table.
The fields (different from those in the original table) in
the appended table are converted to the field in the original table based on the field types.
There are duplicate fields in the appended table.
The duplicate fields are corresponded according to the order of appearance of these duplicate fields
Replace means to replace the original data with the newly-uploaded Excel data.
1. Click Update Excel, click Replace, and select the Excel file (with data in the file you want to replace with the original data) to upload, as shown in the following figure.
2. Select the sheet you want to upload, and click OK.
3. After you have uploaded the sheet, "Excel upload succeeded!" is displayed at the top of the page, and you can see the data of the original table are successfully replaced by the data of Southeast Store.
Upload Logic of Replacing Data
There is a new field in the replacement table. (The new field does not exist in the original table, and not even a
field name in the original table can match the name of
the new field.)
The new field in the replacement table is added to the original table.
The field does not exist in the replacement table. (The
original table has a field, but the replacement table
does not have the same field name to match the field.)
The value of that field (exists in the original table, but not in the
replacement table) is null.
The field types in the replacement table are different
from those in the original table.
The fields (different from those in the original table) in the replacement
table are converted to the field in the original table based on the field
types.
There are duplicate fields in the replacement table.
The duplicate fields are corresponded according to the order of
appearance of these duplicate fields. (The data are re-uploaded
without altering the original order of field names.)
The update of Excel datasets will be triggered if you perform certain operations, as shown in the following table.
The Excel dataset has been uploaded and successfully saved.
The Excel dataset is updated immediately.
There is no association.
1. When you update the business package, the Excel datasets within that business package are not updated.
2. The Excel dataset in the business package (configured to be updated with the global update) is not updated when you perform the global update operation.
