    Application Scenarios

    Sub-admins want to add, edit, and delete database tables, SQL datasets, and Excel datasets in the assigned folders in Public Data.

    Functions

    The super admin grants management permissions of business packages to sub-admins to allow them to create new tables under the assigned packages.

    The super admin grants table management permissions to sub-admins to allow them to edit and delete assigned tables.

    Preparation

    As only design users can edit data tables, it is necessary to set user type for sub-admins.

    The super admin logs into the FineBI system, clicks System Management > User Management > Platform User, and adds the user Alice to BI design user.

    Database Table or SQL Dataset

    This article takes Alice as an example. The super admin assigns permissions to the sub-admin Alice, so that she can create, edit, and delete database tables or SQL datasets.

    Sub-admins not only need to have management permissions of database tables/SQL datasets, but also need to have permissions to use the data connections called by database tables or SQL datasets.

    Enabling Data Connection Authorization

    The super admin logs into FineBI, goes to System Management > Permission Management > , enables Data Connection Control, and clicks Save.

    If the Data Connection Control is disabled, the sub-admin will not have any usage permissions of data connection by default.

     

    Assigning Data Connection Permission

    The admin logs into FineBI, clicks System Management > Permission Management > Common Permission Configuration, and assigns permission to certain departments or roles.

    Click Data Connection and configure the data connection Use permission of FRDemo, BIDemo, Server dataset for Alice.

    The admin logs into FineBI, clicks System Management > Permission Management > Common Permission Configuration, and assigns permissions to certain departments or roles.

    Click Data Authorization and configure the permissions of Function Data for Alice.

    Preview

    Alice logs in to the FineBI system, and clicks Public Data.

    1. She can add database tables in the Function Data folder and its subfolders. Only data in assigned data connections and server datasets can be retrieved.

    She can create a new SQL dataset in the Function Data folder and its subfolders. Only data in assigned data connections can be retrieved.

    2. She can modify or edit assigned SQL datasets in the Function Data folder and its subfolders.

    She can edit database tables in the Function Data folder and its subfolders.

    Excel Dataset

    Assigning Data Permissions

    The admin logs into FinBI, clicks System Management > Permission Management > Common Permission Configuration, and assigns permissions to certain departments or roles.

    Click Data Authorization and configure the permissions of Function Data for Alice.

    Preview

    Alice logs in to FineBI, and clicks Public Data.

    1. She can add New Excel datasets in the Function Data folder and its sub-folders.

    2. She can edit and update Excel datasets or perform other Excel-related operations in the Function Data folder and its sub-folders.
