Overview
Requirement Description
You may need to replace a certain field after creating several components. However, this field is used for several subsequent analysis steps after data editing, including being used to output new fields and create corresponding charts. This document introduces how to replace a specified field with the original data unchanged.
For example, the Type of Contract field is used to edit data and create multiple components in the dashboard, as shown in the following figure. However, it is needed to reclassify this field while keeping other content unchanged.
The Type of Contract field is used for Group Summary in data editing.
Replace the field according to the following procedures.
A successful replacement will not affect data editing and components, as shown in the following figure.
Solutions
Follow the steps below to replace the Type of Contract field with a new one with the same name.
1. Add a new column in the data table.
2. Delete the old field.
3. Rename the new field to the name of the old field. (Field Settings cannot be the last step of data editing, otherwise, the replacement may fail.)
4. Save and update the data.
Procedures
Adding a Column
Add a new field for replacement before the Group Summary step.
For example, click and add an Assignment Column to reclassify the Type of Contract field, as shown in the following figure.

The new column is named Type of Contract (New), and the grouping is shown in the following figure.
Replacing the Field
1. Unselect and rename the old field.
Unselect and rename the old field in Field Settings after adding the column.
2. Rename the new field to Type of Contract.
Rename the Type of Contract (New) field to Type of Contract, the same as the original field.
3. Click Save and Update.
Demonstration
After successful replacement, the grouping of the Type of Contract field is changed to Short Term Order and Long Term Order with other content unchanged.
