  • I. Overview

    1) By controlling the widget attributes with conditional formatting, you can disable the widget and customize the widget effect.

    2) Prerequisites: Insert Data ColumnsAn Introduction of Conditional Formatting, Data Settings[Report Widget] Number and [Report Widget] Button.

    II. Steps

    1. Create a new dataset [ds1]

    1) Create a new DB query dataset.

    2) Drag the table [Product] into the DB query.


    2. Drag data columns into cells

    1) B3~E3: Drag data columns [Product_name], [SupplierID], [Inventory_quantity] and [Order_quantity] into cells.

    2) B2~E2: Input the header and fill them with grey.

    3) B2~E3: Set as center alignment and add borders.

    4. Widget Setting

    1) B3: Button.

    2) D3: Number.


    5. Data Entry Preview

    Button widget enables click and number widget enables data entry.


    6. Select D3 and add condition


    7. Property setting

    1) Click + to select the property: Widget.

    2) Uncheck [Use Widget].


    8. Add common condition

    1) Operator: Greater Than or Equal To.

    2) Value Type: Integer.

    3) Comparison Value: 10.

    4) Click + to add the common condition.


    9. Preview

    When the number of inventory is less than 10, the number widget is enabled to enter data in corresponding cells. When the inventory is adequate, the number widget is disabled.


    10. Select b3 and add condition


    11. Property setting

    1) Click [+] to select the property: Widget.

    2) Set widget property:

    • Check Use Widget.

    • Click [Edit] and go to the widget setting panel.

    • Select [Button]. Click Icon andand go to the icon setting panel.

    • Select the cross icon and click OK.

    • Click OK in the widget setting panel.


    12. Add formula condition

    1) Type: Formula. Click Edit.

    2) Define the formula as D3 < E3. Click OK. (Data columns [Inventory_quantity] and [Order_quantity] are inserted into D3 and E3 respectively)

    3) Click+to add the formula condition.


    13. Preview

    When the number of inventory is less than the order quantity, button widget is enabled and a cross icon is displayed in the front of the corresponding product.
