Application Scenario
Contrast column charts are a variation of bar charts in which bars are placed back to back. They are mainly used for a comparative analysis of two indicators within the same dimension, making it easier to see the clear contrast difference. The following figure shows the comparison of voting results in major states of the U.S. during the presidential election. Red represents the Republican Party and blue represents the Democratic Party.
Basic Requirement
Basic requirements for contrast column charts are as follows.
Chart Effect | Dimension Field | Indicator Field |
---|---|---|
Contrast Column Chart | 1 | 2 |
Chart Feature
Advantage: Contrast column charts can clearly compare the data differences of different indicators in the current dimension because they are most commonly used for comparing two indicators with opposite meanings.
Disadvantage: Contrast column charts are only suitable for data without too many dimensions.
