Report Toolbar

  • I. Overview

    1) When previewing reports, the toolbar located above (or at a customized position) is designed to provide users with some tools.

    2) Users can configure toolbar properties, add, delete and sort tools in Web Attributes. The article highlights the purpose and use of configurable tools.

    II. General Tools

    General tools are available in three types of report preview. Here we use Pagination Preview as an example.

    1. Email

    The Email tool is displayed in the toolbar by default,  but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    Double-click on the Email icon to adjust settings. You can refer to Sending Email Settings for detailed instructions.

    Once set, the features of Email button are enabled in preview.

    2. Export

    By default, the Export tool is displayed in the toolbar, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    Double-click on the Export icon to adjust settings. You can refer to Browser Export for instructions and set available export methods.

    Note: Options for PDF, Excel (Full page, Unaltered and Page to Sheet) and Word in the list share the same functionalities with corresponding methods in Export button, which just presents all in a menu.

    Once set, the features of Export button are enabled in preview.


    3. Print

    Same as above, the Print tool is displayed in the toolbar by default,  but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    Double-click on the Print icon and you can see that no configuration items are available here. Please refer to Print for more information to make detailed configurations in Template -> Print Setting.

    Note: Other print-related options are to provide compatibility for reports designed with older versions of the designer, and cannot be added to the toolbar.

    Once set, the features of Print button are enabled in preview.


    4. Custom Button

    Custom buttons are introduced in Customize button event. You can add customized events for buttons and add them to the toolbar.

    By default, the custom button tool is not displayed in the toolbar. It can be added separately for templates.

    Double-click on the added tool and click User Defined Event to edit the event. For more information on the response mode of events, please refer to Types of event responses.

    Once set, the features of Custom Button are enabled in preview.


    III. Pagination Preview Tool

    This section introduces tools specific to pagination preview.

    1. Page Navigation

    The page navigation area includes buttons for First, Previous, Next and Last page, as well as a page indicator, all of which are displayed in the toolbar by default, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    No configurations of properties are required for the aforementioned button. Simply use these buttons when previewing.


    2. Zoom

    By default, Zoom tool is not displayed in the toolbar. It can be added separately for templates.

    No configurations of properties are required for the aforementioned button. When previewing, click on [+]/[-] button to zoom in/out.

    IV. Data Entry Preview Tool

    This section introduces tools specific to data entry preview.

    1. Submit and Data Validation

    Property settings of Submit and Data Validation buttons can still be applied after configuring data entry according to Data Entry Attributes.

    The buttons are displayed in the toolbar by default, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    Double-click on the Submit button to set its attribute to Data Validation, Verify Fail Still Submit or Submit Current Sheet Only.

    Once set, the features of Submit and Data Validation buttons are enabled in preview.


    2. Show Cell Value

    Show Cell Value tool is displayed in the toolbar by default, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    No configurations of properties are required for the aforementioned button. When previewing, the value entered in a control widget will appear in the toolbar if you hover over the widget.



    3. Insert and Delete Record

    Make data entry configurations according to Data Entry Attributes, or you can alternatively set the button to insert or remove records based on Insert and Delete Row Button.

    By default, the insert tool is displayed in the toolbar, while the delete tool is not. You can configure them separately for templates.

    Double-click on Insert Record button to set the number of records for each insert. Delete Record button requires no configuration.

    Once set, the features of Insert and Delete Record buttons are enabled in preview.


    4. Stash and Clear

    After configuring data entry according to Data Entry Attributes, you can set up additional features introduced in Data entry stash. Stash and Clear buttons require no further settings.

    Neither button is displayed in the toolbar by default. You can configure them separately for templates.


    Once done, click on Stash button to temporarily save page data when previewing, or click Clear button to remove all the data.

    5. Import Excel Data

    The import tool is not displayed in the toolbar by default, but you can apply configuration separately for templates.

    Please refer to Import Excel Data for instructions. The button requires no further configurations.

    Once set, the features of the import button are enabled in preview.


    6. Custom Excel Data Import for New Data Entry

    The New Data Entry option includes 5 relevant buttons, namely Multiple, Custom, Covering, Emptying and Incremental Import,  all of which are not displayed in the toolbar by default. You can configure them separately for templates.

    Please refer to Multi-import Excel data for new data entry for setting instructions. None of the aforementioned buttons require further configuration.

    Note: Multiple Import button combines the functionality of the other four buttons. It simply presents all in a single menu.

    Once set, the features of the import button are enabled in preview.


    V. Data Analysis Tool

    This section introduces tools specific to data analysis preview.

    1. Page Settings

    The page setting tool is displayed in the toolbar by default, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    The button requires no further configuration.

    Once done, you can click on the button to adjust page settings which will be applied when printing.


    2. Print Preview

    The print preview tool is displayed in the toolbar by default, but can be configured separately for templates as well.

    The button requires no further configuration.

    Once done, you may click the button to preview the print results.
